When we suffer from some type of trauma or abuse we unknowingly and unwillingly develop negative beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world in which we live. It is as if these horrible, unwanted events slam into our awareness, leaving the mind in a state of shock as we attempt to make sense of the unthinkable. The mind often comes up with distortions of reality buried deep within the subconscious of which we’re usually not even aware. These distortions, or negative beliefs, cause unwanted emotions and behaviors that interfere with our ability to live peaceful, enjoyable, and fulfilling lives. Does this sound familiar to you?
