Healing From Depression
Few illnesses cause feelings of loneliness, isolation, and despair the way depression does. Depression affects many people, yet so few reach out for help. You don’t have to live with depression and you can heal from this painful illness.
If you have been feeling sad, unmotivated, or hopeless and just don’t understand why, you may be suffering from a mood disorder commonly referred to as depression. Are you having trouble falling asleep, or not sleeping through the night? Or are you sleeping too much? You may be depressed. If you have been feeling more tired than usual, or having trouble concentrating, you may have depression. And many people with depression feel unrelenting guilt and shame, feeling as if they are a failure in some way. If this sounds like you, or someone you love, please don’t wait to reach out for help.
Some people who are depressed become suicidal, thinking they might be better off dead. If you or someone you love feels this way, help is available immediately by calling the Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-8255, or by calling 911 or going to your nearest hospital emergency room.
A variety of treatments are readily available to help you if you are depressed, including safe medications called anti-depressants, and evidence-based methods of therapy, or a combination of both medication and therapy. Studies have shown that therapy is as effective, and sometimes more effective, than medication alone in reducing or eliminating symptoms of depression. Strategies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy, and other proven therapeutic techniques will be customized to meet your needs and personal goals.
If you believe you or someone you love may be depressed, don’t wait another day before reaching out for help. Contact me and let’s get started on the road to healing – your blueprint to happiness.
